Hu Zeqian, the artist represented by SWANFALL GALLERY, is having his debut solo exhibition 'Enlightened By The Wind' in the United States, collaborating with AKG Design Studio. Zeqian's artistic language intertwines natural imagery with cultural symbols, employing vibrant colours and meticulous compositions to depict the fluidity of life and the continuity of the spirit. His works often draw upon historical motifs and botanical metaphors, striking a balance between structure and freedom, while exploring the interplay of time, memory, and existence
The exhibition brings together significant works from various periods of the artist's career, spanning multiple series and mediums, including a new collection of paintings created during his recent stay in the United States. The theme of the exhibition stems from the artist's perception of the fleeting yet profound moment when "the breeze brushes against the skin" – a transient experience that evokes a heightened awareness of one's own existence. Through this momentary sensation, he delves into the relationship between life and perception: how, within the mundane flow of everyday life, individuals become acutely aware of the fragility and authenticity of their being through subtle tactile experiences. In the artist's context, this ephemeral perception is not merely an aesthetic encounter but a crucial key to understanding the logic behind his creative practice. The personal sensation of the wind is transformed into a multi-dimensional metaphor for time, life, and states of existence: it symbolises the uncontrollable and intangible forces of change in nature, while also embodying the processes through which thoughts and emotions emerge, transform, and dissipate in their flow. From this perceptual starting point, the artist extrapolates recurring themes in his works – joy and sorrow, resistance and submission, impermanence and eternity, creation and destruction, the awakening of consciousness and the limits of sensory perception
